Individual Living Options (ILO)

The NDIS offers SDA funds to the person with a disability under Capital Supports in their NDIS plan, in accordance with the principles of choice and control. The NDIS member leases (rents) an SDA home or apartment, or a room in a group home, from an NDIS approved SDA provider using that and other funding. The housing needs to be National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) registered and SDA compatible.

SDA is typically evaluated for inclusion during evaluations of current plans. To find out if you qualify for SDA, you don’t have to have chosen a specific SDA residence.

Start your planning early because it can take a while for SDA funds to appear in an individual with a disability’s NDIS plan. The application procedure is drawn out and difficult so it is a good idea to get assistance from Support Co-ordinator and Allied Health worker with experience in getting SDA into an NDIS plan.
